"What can I say? The Warriors Of Metal Festival Open Air just gets better every year! A big hug and thanks to Datis Alaee and Lea Alaee for all their wonderful hospitality during my entire duration at WOM this past weekend. Really! You two just went the whole nine yards!!! Again, a huge thanks to my killer band mates Xander Demos, Dennis Hayes, and Jeff Curenton, who literately pulled a rabbit out of the hat with the debut performance of the JAMES RIVERA solo career! The awesomeness of getting a set list down like that in less than 2 weeks is pure magic!!! Last but not least, thanks to all the fans and sponsors who made this possible, and also a personal thanks to Tony Canillas." -James Rivera (WOM Fest VI Open Air Friday headliner and 2 time Fest performer)

"Noble Beast would like to thank everyone who attended Warriors of Metal Open-Air this weekend. Playing this festival has been a truly magical experience. To be received so warmly by complete strangers was amazing, and a bit humbling. We now understand what Jon Bon Jovi meant when he wrote "I've seen a million faces, and I've rocked them all." Well, no, that lyric is still pretty baffling, but it makes more sense to us than ever before! But anyway, we loved playing for so many new people and making so many new friends, and we hope to see you all again very soon." -Noble Beast official Facebook page (First year performers / attendees)

**********************************************************

"Great show at The Shrunken Head last night! We had a blast! All the bands were amazing & we are honored to be a part of it. Looking forward to 2 more days of metal! \m/ \m/ Mike Gilbert from Flotsam wearing our shirt during the encore!! Heading home from Ohio. Great weekend! Met a lot of great people...saw a ton of amazing metal! Thank You Datis & everyone who had a part in the Warriors of Metal Fest." -Shallow Ground official Facebook page (First year performers / attendees)

**********************************************************

"What an awesome weekend! We are all still on a WOM high, lol! Thank you so much Datis Alaee and crew for all your hard work and sacrifice to put on such an awesome event! We made so many new friends and come home with such great memories. James Rivera said it best Friday night about the importance of supporting up and coming festivals like WOM. I know I'm not the only one his words meant so much to. I have never been to a European festival, but for me, WOM is what I picture a true European metal festival to be like. The WOM experience as both a band playing, and us as huge metal fans totally surpassed everything I always wished to experience at a festival. To have the opportunity to get to listen to all these great bands was like Christmas for me. Wishing we could put this past weekend on rewind and do it again, lol! We, Global Warning are very honored to have been part of such an awesome festival, and thank you so much for having us!! Looking forward to OUR METAL X-mas in summer 2014 for WARRIORS OF METAL VII!!! Much love and respect, Sandy, Matt, Brook, & Julia XO" -Sandy Kruger (vocalist of Global Warning, first time performer)

**********************************************************

Until next year!!!!!" Michael Mooney (Guitarist for Steel Assassin)

**********************************************************

"Just getting back into town from the Warriors Of Metal Festival Open Air! Words can not begin to describe how awesome of a trip this was. As a performer I was blown away by the backline and stage and the kick ass crowd, very proffessionally done. As a fan the line up was amazing, not a bad band on the entire bill. And as a musician I couldn't ask for a better group of musicians to play with me in Dawn Of Valor and share an amazing trip like this with! Special thanks to Datis Alaee for having us on his festival!" -John Leibel (Guitarist for Dawn of Valor, first time performer at the festival)

**********************************************************

"The concept of metal Brotherhood has become a well-worn cliche, driven into the ground by a thousand bands that all wish they were Manowar until it has ceased to mean anything to me. Or at least it did, until this weekend.

As great as the bands were, my favorite thing about Warriors of Metal was the strong sense of fraternity, permeating every aspect of the festival. I could wander over to any tent, any group of people, and instantly be part of the conversation. Everyone was everyone's pal. I went in not knowing anyone outside the Minnesota crew, and left having made friends in Chicago, Ohio, Boston, Georgia, and Australia (and I hope I'm not leaving anyone out!).

So, yeah. Metal brotherhood is a thing, and it's awesome. A popular line is that metal is all about standing out and being an individual. Kind of? It's really more about being part of something bigger than yourself; of sharing a culture with millions of people across the globe who would totally give you a place to crash if you played a show in their town.

You guys gotta go to this thing next year. It's fantastic. Let's take like 3 cars full of dudes to Ohio. You'll all see what I'm talking about." -Rob Jalonen (Vocalist & guitarist of Noble Beast, first year performer)

**********************************************************

"I can't thank you and Lea enough for WOM Fest VI Open Air this year. As a life long metal fan, it was metal paradise! All the bands were great and talented. Most importantly, I met alot of really wonderful people. It felt like a family gathering not a music festival. Mike and I are already planning on taking a full week off next year." -Edward Schmidt (first time attendee and fan sponsor)

**********************************************************

"Thank you Datis and Lea for sharing your passion of metal with all of us , had an amazing time , completely exceeded all expectations." -Scott Calhoun (WOM Fest VI Sponsor and first time attendee)

**********************************************************

"We had the most amazing time this year with everyone. Thank you to Datis, all the bands and all the people who came and raged." - Skull Hammer Official Facebook page

**********************************************************

"Thank you Datis and Lea for one of the greatest weekends of my life!!! This was the most Metal thing that I have been apart of and truly amazing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I can't wait for next year's Fest and to sponsor a band or two! \m/" -Nick Sigmon from Independence, KY (first time attendee)

**********************************************************

"Totally whooped, after playing Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air, watching all the awesome bands, sleeping outside and having lots of fun...!" -Matt C Axe (SEAX) (2nd year performer)

**********************************************************

"I finally have a chance to write. I wish Warriors Of Metal Festival Open Air, would have never ended. We would like to thank Datis for the invitation and opportunity to be a part of such a memorable event. We also like to thank Lea & Jim for taking care of us. A great big hug to our Metal Goddess Veronica Freeman from Benedictum \m/ & DJ Valkyrie.

Whether its; Heavy, Power, Thrash, Death, Goth, True, Doom, Speed, Epic, Viking, Folk, Progressive, Black... We all Share the Same Last Name in This Family... METAL.

From all of us in Alas Negras... "Thank You" *Bows*" -Simeon Felix Flores (Drummer for Alas Negras & first time attendee)

**********************************************************

"WOW what a great weekend!!!!" -Ray Smith (drummer for Eden's Fall, 2 time attendee and organizer of the Midwest Metal Mayhem Festival in Chicago for 6 years).

**********************************************************

"Thanks to everyone who came to see Ravage, Iron Will and Seax at the Warriors Of Metal fest - despite some technical difficulties we had a good time and we hope you did as we'll. Also thanks to Dee for filling in on drums, to Datis for inviting us, and to James Rivera for hanging out with Tony 'The Metal Duke' and making his metal dream come true." -Ravage Official Facebook page.

**********************************************************

"Thanks so much Datis, Lea & everyone involved in the fest. Had such a great time, miss everyone. . .so does Kai, lol! Once a year is not enough to see all you great people." -Dennis Schwan (5 year attendee and 2 year fan sponsor)

**********************************************************

"So, another Warriors Of Metal Festival Open Air has come and gone. This year Vindi headlined the pre-fest showcase. We almost played over our allotted seventy minutes. I was nervous we weren't going to even come close! We had a blast playing some new stuff and some deep cuts. Yeah, yeah, some of them still had the filth of time on them, but it was still fun. I'd like to thank Datis and Lea for a great weekend, again! Thanks to Orion for the many drinks and Owen for the smokes! Thanks to Kit and Jennifer for watching our stuff when Sarah wasn't around! Thanks to James Rivera and Xander Demos for gracing the stage with little ole us to perform Sweet Leaf! Thanks to Michael Spencer for the drinks! And thanks to all those who bought our stuff (and anyone I'm forgetting)! This year's fest was awesome. If you didn't go, you missed out." -Vic Stown (3 year Fest performer)

**********************************************************

"Just got back from the tour. What an awesome time! Got so much to tell and show everyone. Our band was very well received. They loved our set and to top it off, I met, hung out and drank shots with world reknouned singer James Rivera. But I have to say the greatest moment for me was having the honor of closing the Friday night of the festival doing a duet with James Rivera live on stage singing Dio's "Holy Diver". I was so emotional. The crowd loved it. Thank you James. Also a very special thanks to Datis Alaee for putting on the festival. Thank you so much Datis. Iron will talk to you soon. Thanks." Tony Canillas (Vocalist for Iron Will, Sponsor for James Rivera and 2 time Fest performer)

**********************************************************

"Back home and finally able to slow down for a minute and wanted to say THANK YOU to Datis Alaee, Valkyrie Lawson and the crew at Warriors Of Metal Festival Open Air for putting on a killer event and for having Oblivion Myth at the Pre-Fest showcase at The Shrunken Head. Amazing talent all around, day after day! All the bands were great, but we wanted to send a special "shout out" to our new found friends in FLESH ENGINE - It was great kickin' it with you guys during the festival!" -Ray LeGrand (Vocalist of Oblivion Myth and first time Fest attendee)

**********************************************************

"W.O.M. 2013 was a blast!!! Made friends, good music, amazing time!!!! Until next year my family!!!!!" -Noah Emanuel Akins (First time attendee)

**********************************************************

"Hey Datis, I want to thank you for inviting Dawn of Valor to perform at WOM! It was an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Even if I hadn't performed, it was just a blast being there." _Ted Andre' (Bass player for Dawn of Valor, 2013 performer and 2012 volunteer)

**********************************************************

"Thanks to Datis Alaee for all the hard work and professionalism put into this event, it was AWESOME!" -Julia S. Roberts (guitarist of Global Warning and first year performer).

**********************************************************

"Man what can we say about Warriors Of Metal Festival Open Air VI??! Well... A lot but we'll keep it short. Wulfhook did not behave, But we did have a great weekend! We set up camp, partied and met some amazing people from all over the world. Huge thank you to Datis and Lea for putting on such a quality event and allowing us to be apart of it and to the staff doing merch for all of the bands(you were unbelievably helpful), All the vendors and sponsors, DANTESCO, Sacred Guardian, ALAS NEGRAS, Voltax (Official), Steel Assassin, Seax, Twisted Tower Dire, James Rivera, and Flotsam and Jetsam Official and many more. We couldn't have asked for anything more. It's not everyday for us that Eric Knutson walks up with a bottle of whiskey ready to do shots, and it's certainly not everyday that Jeff Schlinz gets to jump on stage and sing Dio with James Rivera!! We'll be gathering all pictures and posting them soon. We have nothing but great memories(at least what we can remember) Hopefully we can do it again next year! Much love and respect to you all!" -Wulfhook Official Facebook page
**********************************************************

So if you're headed on an all night drive to play a festival in the morning and you just heard that a tornado tore the roof off of the place an hour ago, do you freak out and turn back? FUCK NO, YOU DON'T BACK DOWN FROM ANY GODDAMNED TORNADOES!!! We'll see you in the morning, Ohio! Sometimes I get stressed out and wonder why I bother to keep playing in a band. After laying waste to [Warriors of Metal Fest V Open Air] and being met with a horde of awestruck metalheads as we came off the stage at 11:30 in the morning, I remember exactly what I'm in it for. Heavy metal is the law. \m/ -J.J. Harris (Guitarist / AMADIS from Burlington, VT)

**********************************************************

Back home after a weekend in Pataskala, Ohio where Helstar performed at Warriors Of Metal Festival Open Air and headlined day two of this year's fest! We enjoyed experiencing this fine American metal event, which we found to be very reminiscent of well established European metal fests Helstar has previously played. I'd like to extend a big Thank You to the head organizers, Datis and Lea, and everyone else who helped make this event come together, especially Orion [Fairman] and Melissa [Glass] for accommodating our transportation needs. Such a pro organization with very heartfelt hospitality! Wish you guys the best for next year. Last but not least, a giant thanks goes out to all of the fans for their support! We appreciate every one of the fans who came to see us. It was evident you guys knew our material well - we were impressed to witness the entire crowd singing along to our songs!! -James Rivera

**********************************************************
When the last notes of [Helstar's] "Run with the Pack" rang out into the still night air at a few minutes to midnight, WOM Fest V came to a close. Like last year, I felt as if I'd been run over by a truck. I know people like to say that ProgPower is an exhausting marathon testing the outer limits of one's physical exertion. Well, this veteran of 11 ProgPowers says that the Atlanta fest is a picnic in the park compared to WOM Fest. But damn if it didn't feel good. It's mind-boggling how consistently strong the WOM Fest V lineup was. Nearly every band showed up, and nearly every band brought its A game. The organization has come a long way since the Fest's humble beginnings a few years ago, and now can hold its head high and be proud that its sound, lighting, stage crew, and audience are all top-notch. Datis and Lea Alaee have built something unique and quite special in Ohio. And they've constructed it with their blood, their sweat, their tears, their dollars, and their love. Look, if you call yourself a fan of traditional or thrash metal, there's no better place for you in North America than the Frontier Ranch in June. That said, be forewarned that this event definitely isn't for the faint of heart. But if you can tolerate boiling summer heat, don't mind a front-row seat for the unfettered wrath of Mother Nature, and aren't particularly averse to mud, clouds of bloodthirsty insects, or nauseating portajohns, then you'd be a damn fool not to abandon your creature comforts for a couple of days next year and join the heavy metal party at the Frontier Ranch. Horns up, way up. -Kit Ekman (3 year veteran & volunteer, 2 year sponsor)

Saw Manilla Road, Helstar, and Argus, smoked & drank with Mark Shelton & Brian Patrick, camping, metal, and beer... oh, and thought I was going to be decapitated by flying pieces of tin roof/crushed by a tree when a tornado-generating storm cell moved through the bandshell & camping area. "I really liked [Age Of distrust's] performance at the festival last weekend. I stayed for the whole festival. Everyone who played was pretty good, honestly. I think the WOM is truly one of the few festivals that actually showcases the really good stuff metal has to offer. This was the first year I attended. I plan on bringing a handful of people with me next year."  -First time attendee, Andrew Pinkham from Fort Wayne, Indiana

"Well this years WOM Fest IV was the best one yet. Those who missed it, missed out on one hell of an awesome Metal weekend. I am not gonna list all the bands that played but I will mention a few that kicked my ass. First & foremost are my two favorite bands of the fest the Lords 0f The Trident kicked ass yet again this year as they did in 2010 & then the might that is Vanlade also kicked my ass. New comers that amazed me were Deathalizer, damn their set crushed me into the muddy ground. Stone Magnum brought the doom and damn did they bring it! Machinage brought it as well & the Ohio thrashers Vindicator destroyed as well. Argonaut was also a very surprising band that kicked my ass that guitar player is one intense shredder & there was also Benedictum they were totally amazing as well. Shok Paris kicked ass too and what can be said about Aska other than that they always kick Aska ass \m/!"  -Scott Landon (2 year festival veteran and Benedictum Fan Sponsor)
**********************************************************
"I care about METAL. WOM is truly one of the best experiences we've had and every one of Vindicator is happy to return. REAL metal heads come to WOM, not shallow fucks who buy shirts of bands they have no clue about."  -Vic Stown, Vocalist & Guitarist of Vindicator (First time Festival performer)
**********************************************************
"Thanks to everyone who partied with us at Warriors Of Metal Festival Open Air! Special thanks to Datis and Lea and everyone who helped make it the best metal fest in America! USA!"  -Argonaut (Fort Wayne, Indiana's Progressive Speed Metal band, First time performer) band statement after the event.

"WOM FEST IV - BEST in the series! This thing is like a snowball rollin' downhill! Watch out!"  -Third year in a row Festival headliner, ASKA's vocalist, George Call

"I had a great time visiting the WARRIORS OF METAL festival yesterday with SHOK PARIS at the Frontier Ranch near Columbus, Ohio! Small turnout but cool new location, big covered stage, excellent sound (one of the BEST PA and monitor systems I have ever heard at a small open air festival), well-organized and plenty of good friends to talk metal with all day and night.

Personal favorite bands I saw and heard on Saturday included, of course, SHOK PARIS (crushing 70-minute full headlining set featuring 5 new songs-the band was at the top of their game!), Brazil's MACHINAGE (I loved these guys-cool SODOM/KREATOR-influenced classic German thrash style vocals) and metal veterans ASKA from Texas with vocalist George Call only singing and not playing guitar this time. A new guitarist from France was recently added to the band. I liked Call better as a front man without the guitar. A very underrated and well-seasoned band. They delivered a killer headlining set that included a fun audience participation extended JUDAS PRIEST cover with fans on stage at the end of their set.

I missed Friday's show because of my radio show but heard my friends in VINDICATOR sounded great, along with WIDOW and LORDS OF THE TRIDENT. I also heard good things about the doom band STONE MAGNUM, who went on very early Saturday before I arrived.

Heavy metal journalist Mark Gromen from New Jersey was there. He drank so much beer the festival assigned him his own personal garbage can! You should be too. Forget about what you many have heard or seen in the past with this event. I had those same misgivings and apprehensions as well. Trust me, the new location makes a big difference. For my Cleveland friends, it's practically right in our own backyard. Give this underground festival a chance and be sure to check it out next year!" -Bill Peters of Auburn Records in Cleveland, OH

Goood times!"  -Sarah Stown, the manager of the South Amherst Thrash Metallers of Vindicator

"Best time I had was Vindicator's and Widow's sets, banging against the stage. Both great bands and both put on great shows. Funniest moment was when Chris Bennett pointed me out in the crowd and forgot my name. I even talked to him before the show and he remembered me from Pathfinder, but then forgot my name! I ragged on him about it afterwards though. The quality of the venue was much better than last year's too. WOM Fest just keeps improving. Keep it up!"  -Two year Fest veteran and the WOM Fest III Open Air volunteer videographer, Chris Duhan
**********************************************************

"Though I'm friends with George [Call] it was my first opportunity to see Aska play live and they put on one hell of a show. They don't just get up on stage and play music they give a show..a performance that would do the big venues proud. With the right notice I can see them going very far and being this 'generations' Iron Maiden/Judas Priest etc. They have that caliber of a performance."  -First year attendee, Stacey Ashford (DJ Shadoe of Metal Messiah Radio)

"Warriors of Metal was a killer event. Everyone needs to book their tickets for next year as this could be one of the premier metal events in the US. Aska was great and we met a lot of great new friends from Icarus Witch and Widow among others. "Metal brotherhood at Warriors Of Metal Fest III Open Air.  There's a pic in my pictures that you should steal and put up on your page.  At least 25 peaple in a group shot, many members from many bands, metal horns high in 1 hand and a beer in the other! "This was my first year to attend the Warriors Of Metal Fest & I had the best time at a concert that I ever had.  All the bands were just so friendly.  They were all around you at the camp grounds.  It's nice to actually talk & meet your favorite bands in a setting like that.  That's one of the main reasons why I shall be back every single year from now on, plus if your ears can ring during an outdoor show now that's just plain Pure Metal ;)!!!  Kudos to all the supporters & helpers at this year's event; it was a good time."  -Fan Sponsor & Street Team Assistant, Scott Landon
